Subterranean River Discovery
The Narrative of Subterranean River Discovery
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of the world's most impressive cave systems. It features a limestone karst mountain landscape with an 8.2 km navigable underground river that flows directly into the sea.
The guided discovery explores the first few kilometers of the river, where guests can see large speleothems—stalactites and stalagmites—and several major chambers. The cave provides a unique habitat for a variety of species, including several types of bats and marine creatures.
The surrounding national park is a center for biodiversity, encompassing a full 'mountain-to-sea' ecosystem. This natural wonder highlights the geological complexity of Palawan and remains a significant site for environmental conservation and scientific research.
